The 26th Annual Winterfest Flagstaff, celebrating the winter season in Flagstaff, starts today. The monthlong annual celebration is sponsored by the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, Pepsi and Arizona Snowbowl.

Arizona gun bills seek to ease restrictions
The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing Monday on four bills that propose to loosen gun restrictions in Arizona. The most controversial of the bills would allow guns on public university and community college campuses.
Around the Town: NAU set to celebrate Martin Luther King Day next week
A Martin Luther King Day "Dare to Dream" celebration and march will be Monday at Northern Arizona University. The march will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the University Union and end at the DuBois Center Ballroom. The program, a play on the topic "what if MLK met Malcom X?" will begin at 5 p.m. at the duBois Center. Refreshments will be served.
Vallejo grad Rashad Ross places first in track
Arizona State junior Rashad Ross, a former Vallejo High standout, finished in first place in the 200-meter dash Saturday in the Northern Arizona University Open.Ross' time of 21.13 seconds was a personal best in the event. The meet was held at the Walkup Skydome in

Track & Field, Cross Country. T&F Returns To Flagstaff For NAU Open
The Arizona Wildcat No. 5 men's and No. 10 women's track and field teams will compete in the NAU Team Challenge on Feb. 4, held at Northern Arizona University's J.L. Walkup Skydome. The field events start at 9 a.m. and the track events start at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
